I'm back
from Lyme Regis now and so this is a travel blog. We spent a week down on the
Jurassic Coast fossil hunting and enjoying the sunny weather. Here are some
pictures and all the highlights.
The
seven-and-a-half hour drive down (not including stops!) was very tiring but was
most definitely worth it. Our house was on a steep hill and provided beautiful
views over the harbour and the cliffs. At the bottom of the hill was a long
stretch of fossil covered beach in both directions.

A Whole Ammonite! |
We arrived on Saturday and then on the Monday we went on a fossil walk guided by Nigel Clarke who showed us the history of all the fossils and then helped us find a lot of them. We went down the beaches a number more times and found some brilliant fossils which we would probably have missed had Nigel not told us what we needed to look for. We went out twice more looking for fossils and found loads of really great ones, we even found a whole ammonite!
The top of Golden Cap |
One
evening we decided to ascend the Golden Cap.It was a long and steep walk but
we made it to the top where we watched the sun set over the South Coast. It was
beautiful and presented lots and lots of photo opportunities.
It was a
fantastic holiday, it was really relaxing and great fun!
I'll see
you all next week.
Adam
