Day 3 - University

Hi everyone, it's day 3 of my blogathon week, I hope you've enjoyed it so far.

In a year's time I will be going off to university for 3 years (probably) to hopefully study Maths. I want to talk a little bit about leaving home today because I will be moving out soon and so will a lot of people my age around the country.

It's a really big stage in most people's life and it can be scary. You will have spent 18 years living with your family, in a familiar environment, with people you know. So leaving this all behind and moving to a different city can be really hard. You need to remember that despite the, sometimes considerable, distance between you and home, with today's technology it's only a phone call or a video chat or a text message or an email away; so you're never fully isolated.

That's what my message would be to everyone else who's reaching this part of their life. If you feel isolated or lonely, maybe you just feel a bit down. Call home, I'm sure whoever you call, be it family or your best friend from school won't mind. They'll be happy to hear from you.

So don't just sit around feeling upset, talk to someone.

On a more positive note however, this is a really exciting time, starting fresh in a new city, meeting new people and trying new things. In my opinion, no one should turn down the chance to go to university because they're nervous about moving out or because they think they might be lonely. It is an incredible opportunity and it's one of those things where you get out of it what you put in, so put as much in as possible.

That's all for today on the blogathon week but make sure to come back tomorrow for day 4. See you then.

Adam
